from digital media to ai

As the Internet and its digital landscapes evolved into intelligent systems and AI-enabled technologies, so did Mayra’s research; her exploratory interests evolved from the psychology of digital media to the psychology of AI and human-AI interaction.

Today, Mayra’s work examines the psychological and behavioral effects of AI across work, communication, education, and daily life.

Research & evidence-based focused

Through her research, education, and public engagement, Mayra helps bridge the gap between technological innovation and the human experience across a range of domains, including:

  • the Future of Work (specific to organizational transformation, workforce trends, AI adoption, and changing roles);
  • AI Psychology (the broad study of how AI affects human thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and well-being across all settings);
  • Occupational AI Psychology (human adaptation to AI-enabled workplaces);
  • Cyberpsychology (the study of how media and technology shape human perception, behavior, and social interaction)
  • Neurotechnology (how brain-computer interfaces and emerging neural technologies are changing the relationship between humans and machines);
  • Human-Machine collaboration (understanding how people collaborate, communicate, and work alongside AI-powered tools, agents, robots, humanoids, and other intelligent technologies); and
  • Humane-AI (balancing technology ethics and industrial goals with socio-economic welfare and psychological well-being)
