A Statement from the Executive Director of The CyberPsych Institute On the Current Administration’s Artificial Intelligence Policy
As a non-partisan body, The CyberPsych Institute (CPI) views the current administration’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy as a significant commitment to advancing U.S. leadership in emerging technologies.
The policy’s focus on strengthening innovation, ensuring global competitiveness, and accelerating AI integration across sectors aligns with our recognition that AI is a defining force in the 21st-century economy and geopolitical landscape.
We recognize the administration’s emphasis on performance, technological readiness, and national security — elements that speak to the urgency of U.S. leadership in AI development. We further understand that these policy priorities are shaped by complex economic, geopolitical, and strategic realities.
At the same time, CPI’s mission is to ensure that the future of AI is not only high-performing and globally competitive but also human-centered, ethical, and socially responsible.
We believe that these values are not in conflict with innovation — rather, they are essential drivers of sustainable, trusted, and industry-transforming innovation.
While certain aspects of the policy raise important questions about public trust, social impact, and the long-term human implications of AI deployment, we do not view these as roadblocks.
We see them as tremendous opportunities for collaboration between innovation advocates, policymakers, industry leaders, and human factors experts.
These opportunities include:
- Expanding the definition of AI success to include public trust, digital well-being, and societal benefit alongside technical performance metrics.
- Enhancing workforce readiness with ethical and human-centered AI literacy programs that prepare talent for both the technical and social dimensions of AI.
- Integrating responsible AI design principles into innovation pipelines without slowing time-to-market, ensuring AI adoption strengthens—not erodes—public confidence.
CPI stands ready to work with industry innovators, government stakeholders, and global partners to help bridge these priorities. We believe that ethical and humane AI can be — and must be — innovative, and we are committed to demonstrating that this integration is not only possible, but vital for U.S. leadership in the decades ahead.
In this pivotal moment for AI policy, our North Star remains clear:
… to foster technological progress that empowers people, safeguards human dignity, and strengthens the social contract while advancing U.S. innovation on the world stage.
